Blackboard Student
I led the design of Blackboard's flagship mobile application for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone, working closely with the design organization in Austin and collaborating remotely with product management and development in order to identify and prioritize designs based on student needs.

Create a delightful, consumer based mobile app to support students in mobile contexts.
Ensure cross-platform quality and interaction paradigms, as well as new and legacy back-end LMS platforms.

Creation of wireframes for core mobile workflows to support development and end user testing.
HIGH FIDELITY MOBILE DESIGN - COURSES
Redesign of the mobile course experience to enable quick access to messaging professors and TA's, review of announcements, and course materials on the go.
HIGH FIDELITY MOBILE DESIGN - BADGE CREATION
Design of student profile badges to support cross-platform identification and search for mentorship and other student support mechanisms.
HIGH FIDELITY TABLET DESIGN - DUE DATES
Design of a course-specific due date calendar, to ensure students were able to keep track of their most important assignments.
DUE DATE CALENDAR INTERACTIONS
Mobile motion study to indicate how calendar and list of due date items interact based on touch or scroll.
CALL QUALITY INTERACTIONS
Mobile motion study for video conference call quality feedback workflow interactions.
MOBILE FILE LOADER OPTIONS
Motion study to showcase loader options for course content considering options for large files and errors loading.
WINDOWS FTUE REDLINES
Design for one feature required thought related to interactions and sizing based on all contexts the platform supported. Here for illustration are redlines for Windows tablet sizing for a new FTUE moment based on application version update.
FTUE FEATURE UPDATE
Creation of animation sets that could display on the app when new versions were launched. Additional logic was coded in to limit the number of FTUE updates a user might see, depending on the previous version the user may be updating from.
USABILITY TEST PLANNING
Creation of test planning for new feature releases. Often requiring me to "get out of the building" to recruit students at local universities to evaluate prototypes and builds.
USABILITY TESTING REPORTS
Creation of usability test reports that highlighted core end-user challenges with features and interactions, including accessibility challenges. Recommendations made for improvements to visual design, interaction design, and code to simplify the usability of the application.
